Now, according to sources received by android police, Hangouts reportedly will get new features.
The upcoming Google Hangouts version 1.3, will be integrated with SMS/MMS.
But, they have no information at this point about the possible release timeline and correlation between KitKat and this Hangouts update. It's possible that Google will roll it out before KitKat but it's equally as possible for it to come out later if it's not fully baked just yet.
Some of you may like this feature, because when you are using Hangouts and then suddenly receiving SMS/MMS, you don't need to move from Hangouts to SMS/MMS. However, for some of us, this feature may be disturbing. SMS/MMS that are united in hangouts can cause chaos. Moreover, SMS/MMS is a paid feature, Hangouts is free. If we not careful, we might confuse send SMS/MMS instead of Hangouts.So, not everyone of us will want to get our SMS/MMS mixed into Hangouts. The ability to turn off SMS/MMS in Hangouts would be a nice inclusion. Well, according to the picture, that fiture is already exist. ^_^
